HOW TO APPLY MEHRON LIQUID LATEX

Liquid latex comes from trees and is the natural sap. It is safe for most people to use on their skin and most children. However, some people to do have an allergy to latex and liquid latex should not be used on them.

CAUTION

Liquid latex is for external use only and is used at your own risk.

Some people do have an allergy to this product and it should never be used on them. If you are unsure do a patch test first. If there is any reddening of the skin or irritation after a short period of time do not use. However, please be aware that when first applied liquid latex can cause a slight itching where by the skin begins to breathe beneath the latex. This should go away after a short time.

If irritation continues remove immediately with soap and water. If symptoms persist medical advice must be sought.

Liquid latex must be kept out of the eyes, ears, nose and mouth.

Do not apply to inflammed skin or skin that is damaged.

Do not allow children to use this product without adult supervision. It is advisable to only use on children over the age of 10.

Liquid latex will permanently absorb into carpets, curtains, fabric covered furniture and is virtually impossible to get rid of. If you are using this product at home then please use suitable protective covering to safeguard your furniture etc. Newspaper is ideal.

Liquid latex does not damage most non-absorbent surfaces.

APPLICATION OF LIQUID LATEX

Before applying liquid latex it is advisable to remove all hair from the areas to be painted with it. Liquid latex will pull the hair out the skin and can cause discomfort. It perhaps may compare with being waxed to remove hair!

If applying to large areas of the skin, to enable easier removal a moisturising lotion can be used under the latex, however, ensure that it is completed absorbed into the skin before the latex is applied. If the latex is to be worn for a long period of time your own perspiration will help release the latex over time.

CAUTION

We would warn about coating the face as it is not advisable to get liquid latex into the eyebrows for the above reasons.

It is also inadvisable to get liquid latex anywhere near the eyes, nose mouth and ears. Do not use in these areas.

Applying Liquid Latex

Make sure that liquid latex is well shaken before application.

Apply liquid latex in thin layers, allowing each layer to dry before applying the next. Build up to the desired thickness. Liquid latex can then be powdered or torn open for hanging flesh.

Liquid latex can also be used to adhere to cotton balls, oatmeal or tissue to the face. Then cover with another layer of latex to attain a 3-dimensional effect of rotting flesh. Please note the above cautions about applying liquid latex to the face.

Liquid latex will appear lighter when first applied and will then get darker as it drys.

Foam produces the best results for application of liquid latex. Bristle brushes will create uneven surfaces. You can use a softer bristle brush to produce a more detailed work. Soak in soap and water to avoid the latex drying on the brush. However, it will dry quickly if it is not kept saturated with wet latex.

To speed drying you can use a hairdryer. As its drying do not allow two sticky surfaces to make contact as it could cause the latex to tear. This can particularly happen if it is applied under the arm. If any tears appear in the latex this can be fixed by applying a further layer or covering with body paint.. Liquid latex will shrink slightly when as it dries.

Removal

Most liquid latex will peel off. Any hair on the skin will be pulled out by the latex, ouch!! If you prefer to shower to remove liquid latex make sure its hot and you use plenty of soap. The latex may be rubbed off in pieces. The water will help release it from the skin. Do now allow liquid latex to go down the drain otherwise you may need a plumber to unclog it. Very expensive!! If latex is stuck to your hair baby oil and a comb might help remove it.

Disposal of Liquid Latex

Allow liquid latex to solidify by mixing with either sand, cat litter, sawdust or some other absorbant material and leave uncovered in an area well away from children, pets and wildlife.

DO NOT pour liquid latex down the sink or toilet as it will solidify inside the waste pipes and cause a blockage.
